David was a fine Naval officer and a proper gentleman with impeccable manners, and a friendly demeanour to all. I never had the pleasure of serving with him but I've seen separately in the Type 42 Facebook group and elsewhere some magnificent tributes from his shipmates, and all thoroughly deserved for this Falklands veteran.
